About Us

The Greater Aurora USBC Association is one of the most successful merged associations in the nation as we enter our second year of operation.

Our Goal is to serve the Bowlers in the Greater Aurora Association with the highest quality service that any association in the nation provides.

An organizational meeting was held on May 12, 2007 to select a name for the organization, elect the officers, Directors, and delegates to the annual state and national meetings. Completing these tasks we were chartered by the USBC under the name Greater Aurora USBC association.

At the national level, the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) was officially launched on January 1, 2005 resulting from the merger of the national organizations of the American Bowling Congress (ABC), Women’s International Bowling Congress (WIBC), Young American Bowling Alliance (YABA) and USA Bowling. This added the letters “USBC” to our local organization names – thus changing them to Aurora USBC BA and Aurora USBC WBA.

At local membership meetings held on April 2, 2006 and February 18, 2007, the members of the local Aurora USBC BA and the Aurora USBC WBA, respectively, voted to follow in the footsteps of the national organization and also merge into a single membership organization. A Transition Board, consisting of members from both the Aurora USBC BA and Aurora USBC WBA organizations was formed to work towards the goal of merging these two fine organizations to be effective July 1, 2007 and put in place by August 1, 2007 – the start of the 2007-2008 season.

At board meetings held on May 20, 2007 and June 5, 2007, the Aurora USBC BA and the Aurora USBC WBA, respectively, officially dissolved.

The local women's bowling association originally became a chartered organization on November 11, 1935 as the Aurora Women’s Bowling Association (Aurora WBA) and given a Certificate of Association charter number of 14006 by the Women’s International Bowling Congress (WIBC).

On November 12, 1940, the Aurora WBA received a certificate from the State of Illinois that declared we were legally recognized as a non-profit corporation under the laws of the State of Illinois. This document was signed and acknowledged by the Secretary of State at that time, Edward J. Hughes.
